Goal Manager® Help
If you are using Goal Manager® for the first time, take advantage of our free videos on the Support Space. See here.
Goal Manager® uses SMART objectives (you may have heard them called SMART goals elsewhere, don’t worry it is the same thing)
Setting objectives to help your patient reach their goals is key to their successful rehabilitation. Set and track the individual steps that are needed to make this happen using SMART objectives.
SMART is used to simplify the process of setting targets, to give a standardised template that the whole team can follow and to ensure the best possible chance of success.
When setting an objective, be specific about what you want to accomplish. Think about this as the mission statement for your objective.
How will you measure the success or failure of the objective. What metric will you use?
Think about how the objective will be accomplished. Are all the tools and skills in place to make it happen. What are they? If they are not in place, then take a step back and first put them in place before beginning the objective.
Why is this objective needed? How will this objective help your patient reach their overall goal?
Set a time limit. When should this be achieved by? Try to be specific, it is usually better to set a specific date (although not always) rather than a general period of time.
